WAXING FAQ'S

Why wax?

People wax for a variety of different reasons, including hygiene, appearance, longer lasting results than shaving, reduction in hair density and overall comfort.

Does waxing hurt?

Everyone’s tolerance to pain is different, those new to waxing can find it a little uncomfortable at first, but any pain really is minimal and will quickly subside after a couple of seconds. Waxing causes the hair to grow back sparser and finer, in comparison to shaving, which leaves the hair thick and coarse. Keep your appointments regular and you should find waxing a breeze.

How long does the hair need to be?

If you have been removing the hair yourself then a minimum of 3 weeks growth, or over half a centimetre is needed to successfully remove the hair.

How long will the results last?

You should expect minimal regrowth for the first 2 to 3 weeks, then a more noticeable growth after that. Regular waxing encourages sparser, finer hair growth. It is recommended that you wax every 4 weeks for your first 4 treatments, after that you may find that you are able to leave longer gaps between your appointments.

Can I get waxed when pregnant?

Yes, we regularly wax pregnant ladies. Use of hot waxing techniques on the bikini area helps to ensure minimal discomfort.

Can I get waxed on my period?

Yes, its absolutely fine to be waxed when on your period, providing that you use a tampon for intimate waxing. Waxing can be a little more uncomfortable during your period due to hormonal changes.

Are there any reasons that may prevent me from being waxed?

Certain medications and conditions, such as use of steroids or steroid creams, acne medication, including Retin-A, Renova, Differin and Isotretinoin. Also diabetes,  varicose veins, poor circulation, contagious skin conditions, sore or open wounds and recent scar tissue may limit or prevent waxing treatments.

Please ensure that you provide us with accurate information of any medications or conditions during your consultation. This list is not exhaustive, if you have any queries then please do not hesitate to contact the salon.

Age/parental consent.

Please note that we are unable to wax anyone under the age of 16 without parental consent and presence of the parent throughout the treatment. We are unable to carry out intimate waxing treatments on anyone under the age of 18.
